We are pleased to announce that the 2024 MAER-Net Colloquium will be held at the University of Augsburg, Germany, hosted by the research group for applied data analysis, Dr. Jerome Geyer-Klingeberg and Prof. Dr. Andreas Rathgeber.

 

Augsburg is a charming city rich in history, known for its well-preserved medieval architecture, including the impressive Augsburger Dom, and as the birthplace of the influential banker Jakob Fugger.

This year, we have two distinguished keynote speakers:

John P.A. Ioannidis is a is Professor of Medicine, of Epidemiology and Population Health, and (by courtesy) of Biomedical Data Science, and of Statistics and co-Director of the Meta-Research Innovation Center at Stanford (METRICS). He is one of the most-cited scientists of all times. His current research at Stanford covers a wide agenda, including meta-research, large-scale evidence, population health sciences and predictive medicine and health. 

Taisuke Imai is a Professor of Economics at the Osaka University, Japan, Institute of Social and Economic Research. His main research fields are microeconomic theory and behavioral economics. He has several projects on replication and meta-analysis, which he published in prestigious field journals such as Journal of Economic Literature, Economic Journal, American Economic Journal: Microeconomics, and Science.

Flight

You need to travel to Munich Airport.

 

From Munich take the city train (S-Bahn) S1 or S8 to the Munich main station.

 

From Munich main station you can take the regional train (RB or RE, 40mins ride) or speed train (ICE, 25mins ride) to Augsburg main station. Trains run every 30-60 mins.

The train brings you to Augsburg main station, which is directly in the city center.

 

Currently, there is construction work going on at the train station, but trains run as usual.

Car

There are several motorways bringing you to Augsburg (B17, A8, A96) - depending on the direction you are coming from.

 

There are several car parks in the city center. We will also offer limited parking space directly at the conference venue at the university.

 

Please note that the city center (not in the area of the university) is a low-emission zone. You are only allowed to enter this area with the green badge.

Other hotels

 

There are over 100 hotels in Augsburg. The conference venue (MRM Institute, Am Technologiezentrum 8, 86159 Augsburg) is a bit outside of the city center. Public transport brings you from the city center to the conference venue in about 20 minutes. So you can either stay close to the conference venue or the city center.
